Jihlava město railway station in 2026: new station building and modern platforms
The Jihlava railway station will completely change its shape. Two modern platforms will ensure comfortable and fast boarding of trains. An underpass will be built for safe passenger access, which will also lead under the tracks to Mostecká Street. The staircase to the platform will always be complemented by a lift.
A roundabout will be built in place of the existing railway station building. The space left by the removed tracks will be used for the new building that will replace it. The ground floor will house a common arrival and departure hall, while the first floor will be a waiting area for transferring passengers.
The city of Jihlava will build a transport terminal in the area in front of the railway station. Public transport and bus stops will be built, as well as a P+R car parking with 68 spaces and roads connecting the individual sections of the terminal, including a roundabout. The project also includes new public lighting and pedestrian roads, and also provides for substitute transport stops and the extension of public greenery.
The highest admissible price in the tender was CZK 1,507,198,024. The winning bid was CZK 240 million lower.
The project Modernizace ŽST Jihlava město (Modernisation of the Jihlava město Railway Station) is proposed for co-financing by the European Union from the Cohesion Fund under the Programme Transport 2021-2027.
