Renovated building in Beroun offers modern environment and more shops

Správa železnic today inaugurated the reconstructed station building in Beroun. The builders carried out a complete renovation of three interconnected buildings, namely the departure hall, the administrative building and the operational premises. In the publicly accessible part of the building, the layout has been changed, which has allowed the number of commercial units to be expanded. Passengers will also appreciate the overall improvement of the environment or the modern information system.

The work in Beroun was a continuation of the previous modernisation of the tracks, platforms and pedestrian underpass. “Another benefit for passengers was the construction of lifts, which ensured barrier-free access to the trains. In addition, a modern bus terminal serves the public in the station forecourt. It is now complemented by a renovated station building,” says Minister of Transport Martin Kupka.

The passenger areas and the facilities of the existing operations were modernised. The works included a new facade and its insulation, replacement of windows and doors, modification of floor surfaces, walls and ceilings, as well as a complete repair of the roof. A new cooling and air exchange system was installed in the entire building complex.

The aim of the modernisation was to revive the whole building and increase the comfort of travel. “There have been major disposition changes in the departure hall, which has resulted in the addition of more business units. The reconstruction also resulted in the extension of the information and camera system,” describes Jiří Svoboda, Director General of Správa železnic.

The total cost of the construction amounts to CZK 391,304,326. The contractor of the works was company BAK stavební společnost.

Project Reconstruction of the passenger building at the railway station Beroun is proposed for co-financing by the European Union from the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) within the National Recovery Plan. The total amount of eligible project costs is CZK 246,873,865.
